Hi every one. were new to this forum lark so please bear with us. we have aquired a loverly little s3 88" with a canvas roof that needs a little bit of tlc the plastic window needs replacing and the whole thing need a good clean. Do any of you know where we can get this work done please??? we live in Lutterworth Leicestershire. Also under pammy (that her in doors name for the landy) there are two canvas straps that go around the rear axle (both brocken) What are they for and are they needed for an mot?:)

straps stop axle dropping too far ,and arent necessary and can be removed for mot ,new canvas tops can be got for £150 ish

If you want to try refurbing your top try the ads in the back of the classic car mags for soft top cleaners and renovators - Renovo do some good stuff. They also do stuff to clear the opacity off plastic rear windows ( common problem on sports cars ). I would try and do it on the car and make sure the soft top is correctly fitted and restrained where appropriate, including the rear flap - it shrinks at the slightest encouragement.
Your canvas might need re-prooofing afterwards.

For cleaning products go to a camping/outdoor shop...much cheaper and better range.

Once the windows are 'milky' they cant be brought back so forget all the wonder products...try a place that hires tents etc for weddings, see where they get the windows repaired. As James says though..a new canvas is about £130 (bottom range) to £300 new.
