hi can anyone help ive been trying allday to get my viscous off but just wont budge im trying to undo it the same way as the fan turns as that was the way i have been told? iv lodge a screw driver on the pump bit to hold it still and been hitting the spanner with a hammer and still no luck any advise anyone please help!!!! its doing my nut in

should be a left hand thread (it is on the petrol) put a bar on one side of the nut a give it a hard sharp whack, worked for mine

you turning it the wrong way!!!!!!!!!! it has to undo against the rotation of the engine! if it was the other way it would fly off when you started the engine

Yep it's left hand thread anmd if you use the correct spanner it will fly off, the last three I did came off easy

No, viscous fans are undone in the same direction that the fan turns. Otherwise they really would fly off.

dint I read somewhere that the V8 fan is tightened in the ooposite direction or summat. No help here, but I thought it did?

The V8 fan turns in the opposite direction to the Diesel. It's a R/H thread the Diesel is L/H. Always undone in the same direction the fan turns.
