Can't open tailgate

Hi hope somone can help my wfes Disco 3 tail gate would not open this morning despite unlocking it several times.
We even tried the two button three second process but nothing.
When I tried to lift the upper section I could hear a noise but there was no movement.
Ironically the problem is worse as I have a large dog box in the load space with limited access to the tailgate from inside.
Thankfully no dogs in the box.

Just seen post so dont know if you've managed to sort it?

Stuck tailgate is a common problem with a D3. From memory it is either the micro switch on top section of tailgate or cable detaching itself from the actuator on lower section. As you say it is making noises when pressing switch on upper section would suggest its the cable. Bit of a sod to do as you have to take the interior trim off the lower section from the inside and re attach cable. A bit of a problem with a dog cage in the boot.!!!

I don't know anything about how to fix it, but as I had a similar problem on my D1, you have my complete sympathy!
