Can I change Transfer Box in Situ?

Hi I have a 93 Range Rover Tdi with a tranfer box (Viscous Type) that needs to be replaced. I have a second hand replacement but was wondering if it is possible to change it without using special hoist support. I was hoping to change it from underneath and if anyone on the forum has done it this way with any tips? I have Rave manual etc. thanks R

Yes, you will need an extra pair of hands and a trolley jack. Raise the car as high as you can and support on stands, or ideally see if you can get use of a pit. Check the drum brake over whilst you have it off and grease the handbrake cable.
