I am a bit confused because I am struggling to get a quote for any landys because when I phone the NFU to get a quote they tell me the one I'm looking at is registered as a car. this is very annoying as they have done this for van backs and pick-ups which in my opinion are commercial vehicles.

I have done some research and it seems the problem is that they are registered a private light goods instead of light goods.

Is it as easy as changing the V5 because there is a section that you can change these details or is there more in it?

because I am 17 and I can insure a commercial for 1900 or a car for 4000. and I will be using it for work purposes in a machinery business so I think it should be a commercial

If it's an HT, or truckcab it's classed as a light Utility or dual purpose vehicle and can be insured as a commercial vehicle. Car derived vans like escorts or astramax vans are plg but insured as Vans. try a different insurance company???

I'm a bit disappointed with the NFU at the moment. I've emailed them twice in the last fortnight and not even had an acknowledgement. So much for their famed customer service!!!

My 1998 300TDI 90 hard top is registered as PLG but is insured as a commercial vehicle(use it for my gas and heating business). TBH there isnt much difference between comercial vehicles and van derived cars with business use. try a different insurer
