Prince #2 here.......a new condenser, if that turns out to be the problem (Good chance) will set you back around £85 off Egay. Epoxy type putty is ok as Prince #1 said, but at the end of the day the choice is yours. Just grieves me to pay good money for a regass, only to find the system is empty again a few months-or weeks later

prince #1 agrees with prince #2 but, air con is the least of the worries on a rangey!! i would prefer a new condensor but if you know a man who can do a regass cheap in a free kind of way!(only to have to get rid of it all when engine comes out!), then the putty stuff is a cheaper fix! i suppose its a case of doing the properly then a new part is the way forward!

Poor Sod... worst I have had is a new one which lasted 12months and that was supplied by the aircon guy @ £130. When that went, I got one off Egay and that has been in over 2years without a glitch (Brave words!!!)
Just pi**es me off to have to keep shelling out €100+ a throw to get the mobile aircon guy out-they are few and far between over here. Mind you, he told me that one farmer had his combine harvester aircon filled with Propane to save money!!:smokin::flame:

Regass price is A1. Would be better though if he tested with Nitrogen rather than CO2 as nitrogen is more searching..similar to R134A in molecular structure and the next best thing to helium which is the best of all for leak testing.
