its not hard work or rocket science, you just need to remember level plug is on underside, hippo will have a good guide somewhere

Under light load the vibration is almost undetectable. Under hard acceleration it feels like the engine is shaking. It's similar to a loose or failed inner CV joint. Having changed the off side drive shaft as the joint was dry, I had hoped the vibration would stop, but no.

yes it is looking for the right gear. When was the last time fluid and filter was changed in transmission. How many miles on it?

Tranny fluid was changed under 5K miles ago when I fitted the new engine. I used D3 as that is what I had. I drained some off to check the colour, it's still clean and red. The car has only covered 36500 miles.

So as this is affecting all gears, it's not likely to be a sticking valve? The box changes gears up and down as smooth as silk even at full throttle!

Only just getting to grips with auto boxes and that for a Freelander 2  from what you've said though It sounds more likely to be a fault elswhere in the drive train :(
