Camshaft id?

In the recent episode of wheeler dealers Ed China fitted an uprated cam to a defender 90. He mentioned during the show he had found it on the internet for approx £120. I would like to fit one of these cams to my rangie for a bit of extra grunt low down. but dont know where he sourced it from?

Piper cams I believe £120 for the cam may be but then there's the cost of followers.
Best to buy a camshaft kit which will have all the stuff in a box for the cam profile you choose.

Try Real Steel they do Rover cams. Piper are good ive got one in my 4.2 engine. Check out RPI lots of info on there site.

I wouldnt bother as a new cam will mean the power is futher up the rev range. meaning you have to rev harder to access it.

fit exhaust and filter and see how it goes.

Have a look at the Stump Puller cam from real Steel, it was what I was recommended to fit in mine if uprating and I was told the clue is the name.

I spoke to real steel and their cams were not suitable as like you say the torque is at the top end and i want it at the bottom, which is what ed said his offered. I already have a janspeed exhaust and K&N filter fitted. I now just need a cam, i already have new followers chain and sprockets etc ready to go.

Piper and Kent cams both have a web site showing camshaft specs so take your pick, if you fit a "fast road" cam the fueling will also have to be altered.

If you are going for a fast road cam the it will "come on cam" at around 2500 rpm rally cams are at 3500 4000rpm. Both companies do a camshaft for towing vehicles and automatics which work at lower rpm.
