well finally got round to doin the front shock polybushes an guess what
IT'S ALL GONE TITS UP:mad:

well couldn't get the bottom bolts off an broke two of me bestest 8mm spanners:( an had to get a mate round with the gas axe, nice bloke:D only cost me 8 cans of boddington;)
then the turret ring bolts snapped on both sides so on with the new turret rings i bought in just incase:rolleyes:
BUT the springs had to come out, but wouldn't:( so off to the motor factors for some spring pullers, 22 bastid quid:mad: robbin cu#ts.

well got everything back together an all the weight on the wheels an now i cant get the bolts on the top an bottom of the shocks:eek:
the bushs seem far too thick, did any of you have the same problem? an what did ya do?

thougt about shaving a bit off to get the nuts back on, but does that defeat the object?

HELP PLEASE!

Nick

Sounds like ye've bin havin' fun Nick:eek: :p :D
Ye could try stickin' a jack under the axle on the side yer workin' on and pump it up to suash the bushes a bit more and see if ye can get the nuts on from there;)

Don't cut them!!!!

did think about that but it was gettin dark an i couldn't see much so called it a day,

will try it 2moro an see if i can persuade the pesky little bastids in.

an i did think cutting em would fook em up:eek: but wanted an opinion before i did it;)

I've changed my front suspenders twice in the last 6 months and never had a problem.
Mind you, I was using standard bushes (albeit new ones), not them stoopid poly things, which will wear out in no time.
I torqued up the top mounting in the turret, with the turret off the landy and in a vice.
I stopped the shock from turning by very careful use of a pair of stillsons on the shock body. You're wasting your time using an 8mm spanner.

The secret to getting the springs out and in, is to ensure that the axle is as low as possible (as low as the brake flexi will allow) and remove the bolts from the bottom spring mounting. Then take the spring and mounting out together. On re-fitting, sit the spring in the mount and use a pry bar to ease them both back into position together. I did mine like that easily, without the need for spring compressers, even with 2" lift springs.

You could try pre-compressing the bushes in a vice before fitting them, but I'm not sure how much "memory" polybushes have.

did think about putting std bushes in coz there at least 8-10 mm thinner than poly
