I have recently had an issue which I posted about on here, where the offshoot pipe on the bottom on the passenger side air intake pipe have snapped off, causing a restricted performance and a high pitched whistling noise. I fixed this and the car has been running fine up until now.

Whilst out driving today, I got another restricted performance, a check engine light and the power available to me was much less than last time, I struggled to drive up the hill I live on, was crawling at less than 10mph.

After some investigation, the problem I fixed before seems to be absolutely fine. I have another noise, which is similar, when I lift off the throttle. It's a cross between a high pitched whistle and a bird chirping.

I have tried to locate it and it seems to be coming from the air intake system, after taking it apart I have a significant amount on oil in the pipes, as well as in the MAF sensors and my air filter is covered in it too.

I am going to try and get my friend with a code reader round but he isn't available today.

Has anyone got any ideas? I have looked on forums but found nothing that stood out as the same problem.

How the heck has oil got as far up the intake to contaminate the MAF I wonder?
Marjon's guess at knackered turbo sounds the only likely source to me.:eek::eek:

Car works fine for a few minutes if you park it and leave it for 10 mins... warnings go away, then come back after a short distance.

I would think codes are needed.
I dont know the intake on your model.

I see Data already said that:)

Could it possibly be a stuck actuator? The noise is very definitely coming from the drivers side and quit far forward by the sounds of it, but could well be coming from behind drivers side wheel where the actuator is....
