hello lads, merry xmas,i,ve decided to investigate my tilting 2.5dse,first of all does the obd11 have to be serial,or can i get away with the usb i,ve bought?i,ve plugged the cable in and i,m getting the ff,s in the rx columns,i can also connect to the right port.but i,m also getting a the bad idle in the staus box,i,ve tried making adjustments but when i hit the write button nothing changes?therea a list of faults(about 12 in all)from engine speed signal to valve stuck closed.do i have to clear these first before i can make adjustments.has usual any help much appreciated cheers .

thanks for your replies folks,i chose the port through going into the device manager, maybe i have to clear the backlog of faults before i can make adjustments in the calibrate section?i can change the figures but when i press the write button nothing changes.the suspension works fine otherwise, selects all heights fine but every height the passenger side looks approx 20mm higher than the drivers side?

The software will do nothing until you get the "Good Idle" which means communication is established.
What cable are you using? Is it the correct one for the RSW software? As far as I'm aware, the RSW software only works with a serial cable. Unless your PC has a serial port you will need a USB to serial adaptor which if you have Vista or Windows & may give you problems. In which case if your PC has a cardbus port, you need a cardbus to serial adaptor.

cheers lads, thanks for all replies, has someone stated i think the cables not suited to the software,i,ve gutted the obd connector/cut the usb off and soldered a db9 female on up to rsw spec, soldering and me just don,t get on.its hooked up now with a good idle so i,ll have a play tommorow see what i can do.one thing though does the engine have to be running whilst making changes or key turned to number 2 position.i thought the pump would only run when engines running?thanks again

Hi, your ignition should be on first before connecting or clicking anything, engine does not have to be running.
After intializing, unlock the EAS, clear your faults then goto heights, hit get sensor heights and wait , it should drop and then tell you the figures on each bag, leave it alone and next goto the callibrate tab and hit the read all button, then hit the normal profile button and wait, let the bags inflate and wait then until the exhaust gate blows off, that means the system is full. Then go back to heights and with the offending bag lower the respective bag via the lower button, dont move the car but you can get out (shut the door) and measure from either centre or highest point of the wheel rim to the arch, get it about the same as the other side, get in shut the door goto Functions to lock EAS. Stop the coms then unplug from usb..... I would leave the engine running from the start as this takes time and you dont need to overheat electrics and the pump will be givin it some for a bit.
You should be on level ground while doing this. Good luck..

If you are a big lad you will never get the heights right getting in and out of the car whilst you adjust them.
The EAS compensates for the weight of the driver, that's why it ticks when you get out to level itself. Best done with no load in car.
