I have just discovered that my calipers are really really...really fekked, they look so fekked that I cannot imagine how they worked the other week.
Cant upload a photo atm

Fek-fek-fekity-fekked:(
My question is this, can I replace the seals and pistons and refit the beast?

To lubricate whilst refurbing can I use brake fluid?

Can I use brake cleaner to clean the parts?

:D:D
Er....any one done it?

There is a nice thread somewhere on the net about rebuilding calipers... can't remember which for its on now.
Just finished redoing mine & quite happy with the results. Just don't even think about using Britpart piston seals.

90 calipers and pads are same size as disco

Yeah, I spoke to the man in brookwells and he told me the same, I got the wrong end of the stick.

Phoned brookwells in bovey and they have 8 pistons on the shelf but some of "might be britpart" wanna do it tomorrow and fit them sunday if poss.
Fekking axle has been off all week, nearly had in all sorted last night then I discover the calipers are fekked:mad:
Oh well once its done I wont need to touch it for a while:rolleyes:

yeh, you can do all that.... those are pretty fked!!! even the dust seal is coming out with the piston!!!

I did mine the other week, and changed the discs too

just remember to hold 3 pistons and pop the 4th....

that's how I done mine.... didnt take long to sort all the pistons

if your pistons are 41mm you need earlier not ones youve highlighted stc1280 they are lager ones for 110s and later 90s,you need 606683,seal kit aeu1547

Entire calipers are cheap enough - are you sure you can be bothered to try and rescue?

I'm running on the c£40 ones from Paddocks - no probs yet with them

Have always thought that I'd be really p*ssed off if I replaced seals ans pistons and they then leaked

except earlier calipers are dearer £80 ish and have imperial fastening bolt holes so you have to be careful not to fit metric caliper as holes are slightly larger enough for caliper to move
