Probably, I could only undo the lower bolt on each side on mine, which is why ive been looking for replacements as I wrecked the heads trying to slack the upper ones, thinking I would have to get both out in order to change the discs...then the lights came on and I removed the carrier. Would still like to replace the damaged bolts though.

Did/does anyone know the difference between the STC1914 Caliper Retaining Bolts and the SYG000010 Caliper Retaining Bolts? (not the larger DCP3892L bolts that hold the caliper to the wheel hub)
For what looks like the same product, the cost difference is huge. The STCs are always listed on sites for being suitable with the older solid disc brake systems, and the SYGs are for use with vented disc brake sets on the post 2000 yr vehicles. But the STC bolts cost less than £1, and the SYGs are listed at over £12 per bolt! Even some of the sites that list Britpart versions are over tenner per bolt.
I’ve bought the original Land Rover Guide Pins as mine were rusted and causing braking problems. But like others have said, these did not come with any new bolts. The new brake pads I bought didn’t come with any new bolts either. After finding a local independent Landy specialist in Kendal, and asking if he had any, I was told he’d never heard of pads not being supplied without the bolts, so couldn’t help me. I then went along to the local ECP and we had open three different brands of brake pads, and none had bolts.
I can’t believe these bolts really need to cost £12 per bolt. I need to replace all four of mine as they were so rusted on, they needed my Irwin socket on two of them to get the grip after they started rounding. Photos of the STC1914s look the same as the bolts I need, and I don’t much fancy having to shell out £50 for 4x bolts.
Any advice on these bolts would be really appreciated.

was having trouble with nearside caliper .. and ..
recently bought new brake pads and caliper guide pins from the local LR dealership
can't remember in which box .. but new caliper guide pin bolts were included
no idea what part no. the bolts were ..
replaced old bolts with the new ones
then thought i might get all new calipers .. and brackets ..
as i need to replace the discs this year ..
( i'll rebuild the old calipers )

and while i'm at the 'parts' desk .. ask them about those caliper bolts
i.e. what's the difference .. apart from price ..

I also wanted to change my caliper bolts when changing my discs and pads and new pads didn't come with bolts and i cant justify paying £12 per bolt for my 2001 freelander when the other bolts are 50p each.
And Alkaja stated that he used the stc1914 bolts which are 50p each on ebay on a 2004 freelander so something is definitely not right

There's nothing that strikes me as special with the bolts on vented disc Freelander's. I've changed hundreds of pads on both pre and post 2000 Hippo's. The bolts look the same, as does the rest of the calipers. The only difference it the width of the clam shell and mount, obviously to accommodate the wider disc. The bolts look identical and, incidentally, come with the pad sets I use.
I'll compare the 2 bolts when I get a chance.

Having done an Internet search, I can't believe the price of those A1 onwards bolts. I'm sure the early version fits OK. Like I said, the pad manufacturer I use, incudes the bolts in the box. Strangely the pads with bolts cost less than 3 bolts if bought singularly. Very odd that an 8mm patch bolt should be so ridiculously expensive.

Thanks. It's probably deliberately a high price to encourage people to buy the LR branded pads, which I presume would come with the bolts too.
I'll order some STC1914s this week and let you know how I get on. They both look like high tensile bolts with a bit of loctite on to me, and at 50p vs £12 a bolt, worth a look!

I will keep a eye on your post to see how you get on with the stc1914 bolts i was looking on ebay and there was an advert on there for stc1914 bolts and they claim that
Correct High Tensile Bolt for caliper slides.

Thanks. I, (and others), know for future now.
The Brembos I bought didn't, so people know too.
I could send them back to Rimmers, but postage will cost more than the cost of buying 4x 50p bolts, so I'm hoping those STC1914s will solve the issue. As Dave has pointed out, some websites do list them as being suitable for all Freelanders. (although there are more that list that separate high cost bolt too, hence the initial concern I had). ...Lets see what the postman brings this week.

Postie delivered the STC1914 bolts this morning. I can confirm they look the same as the so called £12 each bolts I've removed from the older guide pins, and fit the new guide pins fine.
