I am probably going to buy a synergy unit (or whatever it is called now) complete with the maf and 3 position switch.

Can I just ask a few questions before committing to buy?

1) How easy is it to install, where in the engine bay does the unit go?

2) I was told once where the cable can come through into the cab but have forgotten. So where would the cable come through in my TD4?

3) I am assuming it does not affect an MOT?

After driving my Landy with the maf disconnected and seeing the difference, I definitely need to do something as it lacks power with the original maf.

1. very easy to do plug and play unit .mines by the fuse box
2. mine comes through the bonnet release cable gromet its tight
3. no its not a mot concern
And its the best thing you could every buy for your freelander had mine on a year now and have never regreted it once

Mines held in place at the side of the battery wrapped in a strong plastic bag. The only problem I found was the plug for the three position in cab switch can pull out of the synergy unit, since using Singvogels elastic band mod I've had no further problems :)

I will be interested how long it takes you to fit. I would imagine not long and the hardest part will be threading the switch cable through the bonnet release cable hole.

I also hope it doesn't make my Landy smoke, as it doesn't currently.

Anyone know what courier they use to deliver it?

I am hard of hearing and often miss the door bell. It is handy knowing which courier as I know the delivery patterns of most couriers in my area and will have an idea of when it will arrive.

Well as always with the best intentions, something comes up and I still haven't had a chance to start it.
I might be able to have a look at it this afternoon...
My dash switch hasn't turned up yet so that will be a job for another day.

I would like to one day install a proper Landy 3 way rocker switch for the synergy if its possible so it doesn't stand out as an add on.

That would be good. If it is simply a 3 way switch with a few led's inside it I can't see there being any problem in taking the switch and lights out of the case and incorporating them into one of the spare button bits on the dash.
I was thinking the one below the fog lights button on the left of the stearing wheel.

Well that has stopped me in my tracks. It turns out the torx star bolts on my maf are the normal 6 star and not the 5 star ones. This should not be a problem but I have left my torx set up in inverness so that is annoying!
Note to self make sure you have all the tools before taking everything apart!

My kit arrived this morning. Probably a few days before I attempt to fit it when the weather is a bit cooler.
Red hot here today and I don't like the sun.

Any tips on threading the switch cable through the bonnet release hole without causing damage to the plug?

I understand it is a very tight squeeze.

Hi,I'm following this thread with interest as I'm thinking of getting a synergy for my own Landy. My dilema is,which unit to get.Out of curiosity, which units are you getting?(open question to all) the A or E unit.I'll be interested in your results after fitting.
I'm sure this will be helpful to others reading this as well.
many thanks
Dave
