It's not for me.

And a search turned up nothing.

The mother in law has decided that she wants to replace her ever ageing Freelander 1 1.8 (can't wait to see the back of it).

She has around £13k to spend on a new car and there are plenty of Freelander 2's around the only problem I have is that I've never had anything to do with it other than a quick drive of one that work hired in.

Is there anything to look for or common faults (other than it being a Freelander and the doors falling off).

I await the hate for mentioning buying a Freelander

i've heard the freelander 2 is not as bad as the 1.. actually, i've read quite good reviews about it in terms of being able to cope with a bit of green laning...

me old man is chuffed with his....i kinda sorta maybe like it a little bit too.....but have no buying tips soz.

i didnt want to admit to it, but seeing as you done it.... yeh i like it a bit too..

not a car that I would buy, but for someone that is after something like the Range rover and doesnt quite have the money, the new Freelander 2 does look a bit like it... saw one in white the other day and thought it looked alright

Roadtest it for diff whine , make sure rear main isnt leaking, whilst stationary rotate the steering lock to lock whilst bliping the throttle to check for steering whine, erm.... Not any other major issues spring to mind.

If you buy from a main dealer i'd ask them to update software before you take it, or something of that ilk.
