Hi all,

Just got a 2004 110, all's fine except it blew the NSF sidelight bulb within about 3 days of purchase.

On looking through the service docs I found that it has had 2 bulbs (the same NSF light) replaced since last September.

Questions then:

- Any ideas what might be causing this, any fixes?
- What's the difference between OE lights and NAS lights, and are NAS more resistant to this problem?
- Would an LED fit solve the problem? (Are LED and NAS the same thing?)

Finally can anyone recommend a good LR friendly location for service, repairs etc in S Yorks/N Derbys.

Cheers

Filament bulbs (the ordinary ones) bust for several reasons, almost invariably because the filament breaks.

Too many volts makes the filament get too hot and it melts. Putting 12 volt bulbs in a 24 volt system is a sure way to prove this theory.

Too much vibration rattles the filament too much and it breaks. A loose bulb holder can do this. Applying yellow grease to all bulbs helps to stop this AND it helps you get the bulb out next year.

Air leaking into the bulb past the lead-ins will blacken the bulb inside and burn the filament out.

A poor electrical contact sparking can cause it. Essentially every spark is an ON and an OFF, and ons and offs determine the life of a bulb..

But mostly it's pot luck apart from the vibration syndrome.

oi leave him alone, it's still early maybe he's still warming up :)

In the 24 hour clock system, any time of the day where the hours are in single figures is BAD BAD BAD .....

Don't mess with me till the hours are into double digits ...
