Another silly question, just been going through the service history of this new car that I have got and it seems t have a problem with the left front Side Light Bulb, I have given it a quick look and tested with a multi-meter, and given the wires a good tug and fumble and it certainly looks alright, the voltage stays steady and the current draw is stable and OK as well, but since manufacturer its had this one bulb replaced over 24 times, no other bulbs, just this one!

A quick side note here is that the place that had serviced this car was a very cheap place, and the bulbs could have just been cheap chinese imports, which is kind of what they sold over the counter anyway, but the bulb has also been replaced at a proper Landie Dealership and they replaced the same bulb a few times, and they are kind of notorious for ONLY using proper Land Rover Approved Parts.

The questions are thus:

1. Would you recommend me trying a lED equiilent, they are not very dear at all and was just wondering what anyone thinks about these?

2. Has anyone ever come across this problem before?

I certainly have not myself, and I own another Disco 3 and a newer Disco 4 and none suffer from this problem.

Thanks again

James

Leds in mine, been fine for over 5 years now, nice and white to match the headlamps.

We have had loads of issues at work, due to the idiot manager buying cheap bulbs, so cheap the headlmap ones were exploding and wiping out the headlamp glass, all of a sudden them cheap bulbs are no longer a good idea.

Thanks for the info, will order a set today and see if they last a litle longer.

They are also very good inside the car, and the puddle lamps.
Do not do the one in the glovebox, it is an ahole of the highest order!

talking about puddle lamps ,lol, plus extra boot leds

yeh i know , need to get out more , lol

There won’t be an issue it fitting an LED bulb, but a bulb style with a few separate LED’s incorporated could or will overheat if the side lamp fitting is small, the first indicator would be the bulb flashing after its heated up it’s not the LED but driver, but as the LEDs them selves are plastic that can fail, an side light bulb with single LED would normally be trouble free but not as bright of course,
It’s not unknown for normal bulbs to fail due to overheating, bulb or the socket, brake lights bulbs failing on an auto for example.
I had two 21w bulbs fail in one lamp in a year the original the other from a LR parts dept, but then a bulb I purchased years ago has been good. :)
