anyone upgraded there front headlight bulbs from standard ones to these different ones you see on the market nowdays xeon bulbs, clear ,blue tint and so on would be interested if they made any difference thanks

Dunno about the Freelander, but a mate with a Disco changed his to the higher wattage, 100/80 I think, and burnt his wiring out, next to the bulb holder.

I'd think that the ones that claim 25% greater etc, from a similar wattage output, should be OK.

I used to run my Rav4 with the Ring Xenon 60% brighter bulbs & they were superb. The wattage is the same as standard bulbs, but with the introduction of the xenon gas, apparently the filament can run hotter which gives a whiter light as well. Although not as bright as HID kits, I would well recommend them & will get round to fitting some myself soon. There are no disadvantages to running these & they are totally legal.

Gaylander lites are really good!!

I have fitted Xeon Bulbs on my 2005 TD4 12v 55w single filliment both dip and head main. Does seem to give a better light. Was tempted to put in higher wattage but as the headlamps or plastic was concerned thay could melt with the heat.

there is a recent thread on here, claims that the HID upgrade kits are not road legal as a retro fit on a car that didn't originally have them.

the upgrade bulbs do appear to give a better light, and they've been around for 10 years plus, so if they didn't work, they would have stopped selling them years ago. We found at work they seemed to have a shorter life than regular bulbs. Also, you need to be careful of the temperature (i.e. colour) of the light emitted. Some of the cheaper ones from far east are not U.V. corrected/filtered, and can cause clouding/milkiness of plastic headlight lenses.

Burn the gaylander and buy a range rover.Lights work on them good.
