Fleet,welding up a disco
Ive wanted a roll cage for a while now as the disco has fallen over twice while we've be at play days
luckily no real damage but I'm sure its only a matter of time before it goes over again and i won't be so lucky,

soo anyway I asked a mate owns a metal fabrication/cnc company, If he'd be up for letting me and Ian loose with a bender:rolleyes::D

so we started off with 4x 5m lengths of 38.1 cds did a few measurements and it was clear we would need more:eek: so decided to do the front half first and order some more tube for this week so I can try and finish it off as I'm at Slab common this coming sunday,

anyway onto the pics

Obviously I still need to make up the cage from the doors back but that will be all straight bar to link the centre hoop to the rear so can do this at home and I bent all the off cuts just incase I need any bends so can just chop/sleeve and weld it up without hassling my mate anymore than I need to

So a huge thanks to Ian(green hornet) for all his work ;)
and not that he comes on here but thanks also to Graham of Wilabb

That's Some tricky bending
yeah and then some, think the offside front bar has 7 bends in it and the nearside front bar 5 then there are 5 bends for the front hoop around the screen so nowhere as easy as I was thinking lol

Nice work.. Does it weigh loads..?
Whats the stainless bar on the top of yer bonnet for..?

Nah tbh I could lift the 4 lengths on my own,
the bar is used for stoping me sliding off the bonnet:eek: /somewhere to clip the winch hook, although I will be adding a loop on the cage near the door mirrors so I can clip the winch hook there,

is 38.1mm (1.5") big enough? looks good, im doing mine soon but il be going down side of car aswell, unless i go internal with cage....whered you get the connectors from that bars slot into...can see em in last pic.

Well according to me mate its more than up to the job so will have to take his word for it, its 2.6 wall so very strong for its size and ill be adding another 10 meters to the thing,so I'm sure it'll be fine..... hope so lol
I got the connectors off ebay but my mate says he can make them for about half the price so will keep you informed

Mine isn't finished yet tho and will go down both sides also but I've run out of tube till mid week

I plan to be there at the moment. Need to see you test the cage lol

I am more interested in doing some testing though so won't be swimming much lol......

NICE but i see the towel rail has disapeared. Has someone pinched it? (hmm would'nt of thought so) Aha I know you came out out off the towel closset and now feel ashamed. DON'T BE SHY PUT IT BACK ON (no one will tell anyone).
