Build Numbers, and date you P38.

I've just been digging around in the source PDF files for Microcat and found this.

Thought it might be of interest to some of us.

I think that's when they updated Microcat! That's as far as I've got I'm afraid.

There's some other stuff too like engine numbers and axle assemblies fitted in what years.....if you're interested...

Shows mine was built June 2000, it was first registered November 2000, so they weren't quick sellers

Mine was built in Sept 2001 & registered in May 2002! Guess most were holding out for L322 by then.

I wonder what the cheapest new P38 ever was.. there must have been a few that were left after the L322 came out

I'm not sure, most '02 P38's i see are generally high spec.

i was just looking at when mine was built and registered when my wife looked over my shoulder and called me a anorak well that burst my bubble

Mine was the 500th to be made of the month (only 852 made that month) and was registered within 2-3 weeks.

On an episode of top gear they did a bit on RR aftee the L322 came out and you could get a full bells and whistles P38 for about 40k.

Dealers spec old models high and sell cheap as they need to get them out the door.

My thoughts exactly. Would never buy a new production model. Ok if new i guess as covered by warranty.
I got a little stung with mine though as my philosophy was get the end of model run year to ensure most gremlins have been ironed out. Trouble is, the last runs often used up obsolete parts up...mine had 2 pin diffs for instance, which now of course have failed & replaced with 4 pins. I wonder what else they bodged on the last runs?

Mine was built late August '97 and registered first week of September '97, so they didn't all hang around.

It shows how to identify your 2 pin or 4 pin diff on the MY1999 year of manufacture.

Does anyone know what the difference for the front axle of the MY1998 (94L) cars was? Mine's an MY1998.

Also, here you can see if you've had a factory replacement engine or not.
