Hello,

My 90 failed its MOT for two things!

1) Rear Offside Brake ineffective
2) Rear Fog Light turns off when tapped!

Bollocks. They're small trivial things! At least everything else is sound. How easy are the brake shoes to adjust? I'll try some brake cleaner spray and an adjust before I start buying new shoes in. The fog light just needs a new casing.

How much is a re-test?

For the brake problem its more likely the pistons are siezed up in the wheel cylinder, they rust quite easily if they get wet and are left standing for a while.

If this is the case put loadsa wd40 on the pistons where they come outta the cylinder and get a large g-cramp round em and tighten it till they free up. Normally u can just lubricate them and they'll be fine again.

Fog light is circa £5 - just replaced mine with the reversing light after trafic cops got anoyed it was flashing white out the back when i was reversing - DO YOU NOT HAVE SOMETHING BETTER TO DO THAT **** ME OFF?

Well I've had the drums off this morning. The driver side drum had a leak from the hub oil which had fouled the entire drum brake system. I replaced the seal, cleaned up the drum and fitted new shoes. I also swapped the passenger side shoes as you do.

The fog lamp is just knackered so I've got a reverse lamp which I'll splice in. I just need to put the red lens back over. The, all being well, it's a pass!
