Hi All,

Has anyone found any rust bubbles under the black painted exterior trim above the wing mirror on a L322. I have recently found a bubble and wondered if Land Rover have a warranty that covers this. I know Mercs have a 10 year warranty against rust.

I may be way off here, but I thought L322 panels etc were aluminium not steel? (which would obviously rule out any possibility of rust)

Awaiting being shot down for being wrong....

I think he is revering to the window trim, yes the main panels are aluminium but the window trim is steel.

Yes it's the mat finished black trim around the windows but specifically just above the wing mirror. The car is nearly 7 years old so the warranty would have ran out then. Has anyone tried to changed any of the trim?

I have just purchase the weather strips that go between the window and the door because they have started to bubble on the 2 rear doors and the passenger front door, they have cost me about £35 each, which seems a rip off but they have made the RR look tatty, I am fitting them next week.

Just a thought but if you can get these trims off from where your wing mirrors are, you should be able to get them covered, there are places that basically shrink wrap a plastic coating over them, but your problem is going to be removing them.

i got the same problem on mine and its still within the six year period, the dealer took loads of pics and sent them down to landrover to the claims department. the reply was that only the main body panels are gaurenteed not any of the trim, i even threatened to go down there with it but they said its a secure unit and wouldnt get in. load of arses down there that just pass the buck and wont even consider a good will gesture.
