Bubbles under door seals

I've noticed all of the door window seals are starting to bubble on my 52 Freelander TD4. I've had a ton of Mini's in the past and this has always meant rust buried beneath them, has anyone found this to be the case on the freelander or is it the rubber perishing?

I'm not able to take them off for a week or so, so I can't just rip one off to see. Anyone experienced this before?

just replaced my window rubbers. you are indeed correct - they are made from aluminium and do get corroded/powdery after a while on the inside, the door frames are usually ok on the freelander..
Simple to pull off old and replace with new (Have to remove wing mirrors on the front windows), take care when fitting new window rubbers though as due to being thin aluminium back bones they crease easy if your not gentle with them!
 
yep purely cosmetic, if you leave it much longer to oxidise though the bubbling may impinge on your window glass and scour it...i dont know how bad your is.
Just a worse case scenario suggestion :O)

I have the same thing on two of my window surrounds.
You say it is easy to replace but what about the rear side window with the quarter-light in does this pose a problem of any sort to replace.
