Have established that there is fuel at the injectors. It's looking like it could be a bad batch of bio that I put in yesterday. :(

Check inj pipes make sure none have come loose have had this a while ago run like **** but would just die at high rpm

As always we cannot guess
You gotta crack some pipes see how far the fuel is getting or not.

Make sure fuel is getting to engine bay filter if yes check fuel at inj pump then crack inj off and check there from your finding you will find some answers

fuel at injectors dont mean theres enough fuel getting through for it to run at high revs

the origional sypmtoms are classic for a partial blockage, air leak. or less commonly weak lift pump.

is there a tiny gauze filter in the inlet to the injection pump?

There's **** coming out of the exhaust and the injection pump is making a strange noise. It's like there's a lot of water in the fuel. When I eventually get it home, I've got to empty the tank and put normal derv in it, then fill the fuel filter with normal derv, start it and hope it clears itself.

Got it home at last. I've tested the batch of bio that I put into it yesterday and it's total crap. Don't know how or why it's happened, but it's absolute ****. The problem I have now is how to empty the fuel tank of 75 litres of crap bio diesel. I've just tried to syphon it out through the filler, but the hose doesn't seem to be reaching the fuel. Is there some sort of valve in there somewhere? Can anyone suggest another way of emptying the tank?

I've got to try to get this sorted tomorrow if I can, because I need to get to work tomorrow night, so any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Open the tank from the boot floor or take off the filler neck pipe, will be the easiest way, or if your using a pump then simply attach pump to fuel line in engine bay...

Thanks Jon. Would that be through the inspection panel in the boot floor? I've never looked under there before, but can I get access to the tank through there? Also, (sorry for all the dumb questions), where do I get access to the filler neck pipe?

Yeah through the boot floor, 6 screws hold in access panel and then a few more hold in sender unit, lift that out the way and syphon from there. If you look under the body where the filler cap is you will see the pipe going from the filler hole into the tank, it goes through the chassis leg I believe, there should be a section of pipe held on my 2 jubilee clips, undo these and it will give you good access again but be warned, it will come gushing out when you release the clips...

Thanks again, Jon. The jubilee clips were seized solid and the filler pipe looked a bit perished, so I decided that rather than make things worse then they already are, that's a job for another day when the tank is a bit more empty. I've gone in through the access panel. Everything came apart easily, but I'm buggered if I could syphon anything out. Seems like the tank is just too low. I need to pump it out, but haven't got a pump! I'll have to try to get hold of one of those drill driven pumps, or something, tomorrow.

The only half decent thing that's happened to day is, I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the floor when I pulled up the carpet and foam.

had the exact same symptoms on a sherpa van years ago with the prima engine, turned out to be(after searching for days) the tiniest of splits in the fuel line pulling in air causing all the issues, not saying its the problem in your case but i would rule it out

Cheers, will check it out best I can.

Good news, I think. Managed to empty the tank through the access panel in the back with a drill operated pump. (They are brilliant). Emptied the sedimenter and fuel filter, then put 20 litres of proper derv in the tank. Filled up fuel filter and started the motor. It ran, only just, but as badly as it did yesterday. I cracked the injector unions and retightened several times with engine tacking over. Still lots of **** from exhaust at first, along with no revs, cutting out and the smell of burning bio. Then, after the 4th time restarting, it sounded altogether better. Cracked injectors once more for luck then gave it a good revving. Revved no problem, no more **** from exhaust and no strange noises from the injection pump. Took it for a spun around the block and all seems well, thank goodness.

Couple of observations. When I took the sedimenter off to clean it out last week, I replaced the rubber seal at the same time. I boughten pair off eBay. When you buy a paid of those deals, they are two different sizes! The one I had fitted last week was a stretch and it was only when I replaced it today that I realised it was the wrong one! The other was slightly bigger and was a perfect fit. Second observation was, one of the plastic elbows on the sender unit had a crack in it. I never took the sender unit off because the nuts were very rusty and I just knew something would break if I tried to undo them! I filled the crack in the plastic elbow with some silicon and that's another job for another day.

I've ordered a new Delphi lift pump because I'm still convinced my lift pump is weak or knackered. There's nothing coming from the bleed screw hole on the filter housing when I hand prime the pump, or when the engine is running..

Keeping my fingers crossed that this little problem us solved now. Just got to sort that batch of bio out. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Just dump the bio in as it is with some proper derv 50/50 or something like that to dilute and it should be alright

Cant see it being any worse than using straight veg mixed with derv like I do

this comes from the man that is now questioning if the petrol in his non starting V8 is actually combustible or not?
