Hi everyone, I'm shopping round for a new tilt for my lightweight, and found that Paddock have them in stock for around £100 less than other places (which all seem to have Exmoor trim ones).

I just rang Paddock up and the guy said are made by Britpart, which obviously sent a shudder down my spine, but he said that they've never had any problems with them, and they come with a 24 month warranty apparently.

On the Britpart website it says they're all made with original 18oz canvas, following OEM specs etc, but they would say that I guess.

Anyway, my question is has anyone ever bought one of these? And if so have they had any problems with them? Because the price is definitely right...

Thanks in advance.

i bought several 88 full bp hoods 2 to fit light weight 10 years in between they arent as good as genuine but plenty good enough ,only replaced the first one as it got ripped on rear flap through carelessness .was water proof etc

I looked at one and thought it ok, not as good as original but with a bit of care it should last.
It's only a canvas cover and even though it's Britpart, it's unlikely to explode or anything.

bought one about 2 years ago, it is now completely rotten, took it to an upholster and he said it was cheap and nasty cotton, and the sun had ruined it. Had i known it was britpart i would not have bought it. I did not expect this from Paddocks.

Regular coats of fabsil or Thompsons waterseal... keep it out of direct sunlight if you can (but sort of defeats the object of having a cover if you can't keep it outside)... make sure it's tied down tight to start with as it will shrink when it gets wet then dries, but if the bottoms are well secured this will stretch the canvas nicely and after a few months repeated wetting/drying it'll be fine - I used 8mm bungy cord to secure mine all round, kept it nice and tight and no shrinkage (about 2 years old now and looking as good as new)... mind you I got mine from All Wheel Trim Ltd. Land Rover series-2&3 - Not sure how much Paddocks charge, but this one was £185.00 +VAT (not sure how much they charge now?)

Did you ever treat it with anything? My current tilt is rotten too (4 years of sitting outside covered in leaves, compost forming on it etc) but I scrubbed it down and gave it a coat or two of fabsil and it's mostly waterproof again.

There are just a few bits where it's worn so thin that you can see daylight through it. The fabsil didn't help on these bits because they're so thin, and unfortunately they're right above the front seats, hence why I'm looking for a new one...
