Just calculated I've spend on all the britpart parts 250 quid. Including the above list.
I bet oem would have been 500, even more.

Your choice, but I would now have a landie standing in my backyard without britpart. I bet some people have the same "problem", just cant or dont want to spend this kind of money.

So many people might be unhappy with them, I aint. I choose where to buy. And I prefer any sort of parts on the road than good parts on SORN.

When I can afford it I would rather pay double, and only have to do the job once instead of twice! Long term I think in many casses cheaper initial price does not work out. I have learnt my lesson with cheaper parts and now careful what I get.

Erm, yes. If you have the money in the first case.

To pass the mot/tuev I had to get things done. And the shipping IS a lot cheaper at paddocks.

Now, I try to order oem or original, but if you take a propshaft gaiter as example:
Britpart: 2.34P
Genuine: 18.32P
taken from lrseries. Difference: Factor 8

I dont know what quality they are yet, I have two of them flying around here somewhere just in case, because for two pounds I can. For twenty, rather not.

It's more a fix than a repair for me. I need it running now, I can repair it later. My personal backup of parts you might say.

BTW: I didn't have to replace any of the britpart parts yet.

I would never buy britpark cylinders again - they leaked within week one. At least 2 friends have had similar problems. Alot depends on how much time you have to spare - if you have plenty and are doing the work yourself, then it may be worth the risk. If you are paying a garage to fit the stuff, then I'd definately stay well clear of anything with moving parts or seals, as what you might have saved on initial parts price will quickly be lost in labour....and the cost of proper parts. There is always the hope that they will realise that opinion of the Britpart brand is low and will actually do something about the quality. Maybe the 2 year guarantee mentioned above has something to do with that. Trouble is, if you've been bitten badly by britpart before, it will take something special to take the risk again.

Yes, I agree.
As you might have guessed, I do all things myself. And a garage in germany takes between 45EUR (very good friend) and 90EUR (80EUR is normal) PER HOUR.
In blighty I remember it do be not as bad.

And about the two year guarantee:
Nice, but balls. If something breaks (propshaft gaiter for example) I dont want replacement by the same manufacturer. Isnt 2 years the normal european ordered guarantee time anyway?
Wouldnt bet that quality is getting better because of the guarantee. If the door tops survive this long I'm happy though

i had the brake overhaul kit, seems as ok as could be on a non servo 40 yr old landy!
drum screws were worse than the old ones, slot not deep enough for a screwdriver.
master cyl operates ok but i havent been far yet.
it will skid to a stop with a double pump on the brake, which i gather is normal on these.

Hi guys

It's been only 3 weeks i bought my 74 series 3 2250 petrol
And i am really loving every minute with it

The part dealers are ****ty here in Turkey. So i am looking for a few plastics and body parts. The parts will be posted to Turkey. I tried some Ebay dealers and couldnt get enough attention.

Who would you recommend me to contact...

Thanks

I would never use Britpart for anything life-critical i.e. brakes, or engine critical i.e. timing belts etc. But i do use them for other items and seem to be reasonable so far.

BTW, everyone seems to slate them but does anyone actually complain to them about quality???

Dave

Yup,at one point when Paul Meyers run the outfit he gave me his personnel mobile phone number to appease me after i had a **** load of hassle from buying there "quality" stuff

well, I go down in my 109, so have some spare space, and I doubt that they ship e.g. an engine...
What kind of stuff do you need? For smaller parts I really would try to get them shipped by air or road, as I doubt the customs thing will be easy otherwise?

If they won't ship it, tell me. I know a lorry(shipping kind of) goes from Frankfurt (I live there most of the time) to Turkey where you can send stuff cheaply.

i need small stuff like
1. Lamp, horn, signal stick
2. The plastic cover at the and of the Lamp, horn, signal stick (the two piece plastic behind steering wheel covering the pipe, signal stick and ignition)
3. Gear, 4x4, hi/lo lever plastic groumet
4. Door top push and turn window lock (only 1) 2a type
5. Rear grab handles (2)
6. Reverse light and fog light at the rear
7. Pedal rubber set (throttle, brake, clutch) (black)
8. fuel tank cap locking hasp
these small parts are very rare here...

Thanks anyway..

you get what you pay for.....theyre great for getting you back on the road quickly and cheaply........then again an engine core plug with no taper on the shoulder is about as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike

I was just about to buy a service kit for my sIII from britpart :( are they ok or can you recommend someone else to get one from

Service kit like
oil filter: ok
fuel filter, condensor and points: I did, was ok. But if you have britpart and lucas in front of you, there are obvious differences, where me says lucas is a tad better (second, softer metal for debumping of points)
sparking plugs: I buy my own, thanks.

Its cheap, I suppose it works, but if you buy the set and get lucas condensor and points it would be better I reckon (I wouldnt buy the set, as I prefer NGK sparking plugs...)
