Been reading some negatives about the blue boxes lately, seems people hate them!

Anyone fill me in?
just fitted their master cyl, head set, brakes etc. all seem ok.

I got a full set of ****part brakes a year ago
Didn't fit to great but I got them in
The shoe adjusters were crap
But after some messing all was well
Blow the gearbox about 7 months later
She been sitting now for a while and now I see brake fluid leaking out of the wheel
Not gonna be buying anything from them again

dammit . i just bought a overhaul kit from them !!SPECIAL OFFER!! from paddocks :doh::doh: . . .

For some things britpart are fine...things like metal panels, things which in theory you cant really go too wrong with. Personally I would avoid anything Britpart that involves any sort of seal. I have had master cylinders, brake cylinders, oil seals - all have failed in a short amount of time!

The brake overhaul kit...I would say use it but bin the cylnders, get Lucas ones. The brake pads seem fine to me.

I have the same kit. I'd say the cylinders are fine, but of the 8 brake pads I photograohed four and send an email to paddocks. Answers was nought, as expected.
Half of the pads were chipped. And not like a little, but rather about 0.5-0.8cm each of the brake pad itself (seems to have happened at packaging). But they were round. That's what I've been told, that they might be a bit oval...

I bought the kit and two of the cylinders failed - one after a few hundred and the other after a few thousand miles.

Getting together me next order at lrseries anyway, might as well...

I found that the shoe adjusters were as worn as the ones I took off so I couldn't get enough adjustment on some of the wheels

I order from them quite a lot, have never let me down. I find it handy that for many parts they list both the genuine and non genuine items on the same listing - whilst paddocks usually list it as a seperate listing.

use ****part as a last resort i need the part now type thing. Then replace it soon after.

Be careful when ordering from paddocks, they will sometimes list another supplier of the parts and send the blue crap anyway.

Paddocks: They have a ****ty search function, and you seldom find the genuine parts. But hey, they're cheap, and so is their shipping to Germany...
Had only once a problem with lrseries, that was when I asked them what the replacement part was. They answered britpart. Didnt know britpart makes sparking plugs now?

The only thing good about ****part is the boxes....... Good for lighting the fire!

I see from LRO mag this month, that they have now extended their warranty to 2 years on all products.

Presumably that means they've got some confidence.

Of the Britparts I've bought so far, here's a rundown so far.

1) Propshaft gaiters - 6 months use, and creases starting to crack already.
2) Washable air filter - looks good quality, and doing fine.
3) Yellow polybush shock absorber bushes - doing fine.
4) Red rectangular reflectors - seem good quality - fine.
5) Bulkhead vent seals - rubbers good quality, but poor fit on series vents - too tight.

My twopence:
Door top, glazed - 6 months, started rusting from day one, but cheap and good enough.
Rubber seal door top to bottom - 6 months, one size fits nothing, but at least long enough to be cut to size. Inside dry though
Fan belt - 6 months, seems fine
Heater, top and bottom hoses - 6 months - again, one size fits nothing but long enough, doesnt look too well though. Unlike original which was at least 20 years old, when they burst I suspect its not field-repairable (OEM is, I've had to try)
Wiper blades - 6 months, bollocks in wiping, but dont rip or break. Oh, and they didnt fit initially...
Front vent seal - 6 months. As mentioned above, but mine were too big.
Rad cap - 4 months. Shuts, but I dont know if it opens. Wouldnt buy again, as I suspect it not to.
Headlight bowl - 4 months. Doesnt rust as not metal. Doing fine.
Window lock - 4 months. Doing fine.
Oil filter - 4 months. Doing fine.
Fuel cap seal - 4 months. One size fits nothing, but you bloody well cant fit it. Stays in place sometimes, sometimes not. Wouldnt spend more money on this seal tho, so good enough.
Overflow hose - 4 months. Who cares? It's cheap, it should never be in use, and if it is, it can aswell drip on the floor or rad, as long as no one stands right above it.
Brake overhaul kit - 3 months. As from paddocks. Cheap. So is the quality. expect to buy another one just to replace these parts that fail withing 3 months or are broken on delivery.
Bleed screws - 3 months. Nothing good to say here, but that they did their job for about a week.
brake pipe ends - 3 months. See bleed screws, but a bit better. They do their job, as long as you do not try to unscrew and reuse them(yes, fitted with copper grease).
Steering damper bush - 3 months. Seems fine.
Water pump - 2.5 months. looks good quality, doesnt leak or make noises. Seems fine, but gasket was broken on arrival. Fitted it anyway as had no alternative, works well.
Rocker cover gasket - 2.5 months. Dont. You have to make sure to get the sticky stuff off. And the plastic. And even then I fished some plastic(sticky) just in time from the innards of the rocker cover.
Handbrake gaiter - 2.5 months. One size... you know the rest. Cant make it fit nicely, but was a lot cheaper when I bought it than OEM, and does its job more or less.
Carb repair kit - 4 months. Fine, but some jets are wrong size/bad quality metal, the idle valve and gasket doesnt fit. Cheap, and not worth it.

ok starting to get the picture here, so where would you go instead, needs to be competative prices?

Well, I didnt want to make a point that britpart is bad. Not at all.

As I was in need of a lot of spares (as you see) I used them and I'm glad I did, as I saved lots of money. It got me Series from "good runner" to "daily driver"!

As of brake and cooling parts: I distrust britpart with them, but I'm still using those I bought.
Some parts are ok, some are good, a lot is pure rubbish. But even the bad bits I use for different things later (door top to bottom rubbers are cheap, and the rubber itself is good quality!).
I use lrseries now most often now, as they have both OEM and replacement AND state the prices on one page. Their search engine is nice, too.
I dont mind using britpart / paddocks, especially because of paddocks shipping abroad is cheap (the packaging is especially cheap *nudge nudge*).

Some parts are only manufactured by britpart (door cards for Series 3).
The screws I've found to be rubbish both OEM and britpart, but britpart is sometimes ten times cheaper. And good screws (special alloy, not rusting though not breaking because of the vibration either) cost even more than OEM, sometimes about threefold.
