Brighter headlights

If 100W bulbs are your only problem then you deserve a bit of ribbing just wait till you have HG fail or loss of power problems - then you'll see how friendly and expert the forum is.

I got my TD4 as a midlife crisis present - a bit of a dog with good bodywork (Hippo not me) - with the help of this forum it's now driving beautifully and has replaced my Jag as main car and I have to fight the missus to see who can drive it !!!

Big up the midlife crisis cars

The use of 100 Watt bulbs won't necessarily blind on coming vehicles provided the lights are adjusted correctly. The bulb is shrouded so only reflected light is emitted. However 100 Watt bulbs aren't E marked. Fitment would mean that the Headlamps themselves no longer comply with there "E" markings.
Also 100 Watt bulbs don't have UV filters in the glass. This, in time will make the headlamp lenses go opaque and could even melt the reflectors. As suggested, used Osram Nightbreakers or Ring (Alite) + 120% bulbs. These should do what you need while keeping legal.

Just the pure heat output of 100W'ers is likely to fry the lenses and cause them to peel off the reflective layers.
If you're hell bent on serious light, use 55w/75w HIDs, an MOT fail for sure these days, and make sure you pick a colour temp at the end of the spectrum away for blue or it'll be the rolled up newspaper for you.

Sorry to hijack, but i'm fed up of my dim, dirty yellow-white bulbs and wanted something slightly brighter/bluer white. Will these nightbreakers do the job and are they a simple plug and replace or is more work needed?

yes mate nightbreakers are good I have used them on a nissan I owned once
