Does anyone know wot the breather pipe from the top of the engine goes to? It's the one below the brake servo as if you were looking from the bonnet. It sucks like a Henry hover but don't know what it's for and when I put my finger over it, the engine almost stalls??

All LR Efi V8's have a crank case breather pipe from one if the rocker covers and ends up at the induction side of the plenum chamber. At the side of the servo vacuum pipe there's a vac pipe to the charcoal canister filter thingy on a 3.9 that's mounted on top of the inner wing. So not breathers at all.
On a 3.5 it goes to the ball vacuum thingy that's connected to the heated via a small pipe may be... i forget now.
And if it's a carb engine I haven't a clue. :)

Rubber pipe is about 3mm and plastic thing is no bigger than a penny? Will this cause it to run lumpy and when I drive it really struggles to pull and really under powered and is hard to start?? It run and drove fine in the disco? Have changed the coil and the hot wire as it was split?

I have two little ones on my 3.9 efi. one goes from the plenum to the vac sphere on the inner wing which operates the heater flap.

the other goes form the plenum to the vac advance on the dizzy. I would say thats the one that could cause running problems.

I dont have one from the brake servo area , its not a vac assit for the brakes is it? bit new for that isnt it?

The one to the advance dissy is on and is working? I have two aswell but one on top on inlet of the plenum and the other is on the left side and went to heater control but as it's now a defender so not connected to anything? Is causing a vacum so when blocked off it almost stalls?

thats odd as it cant be pulling so little air through the main inlet as to let it stall if you block that little hose? maybe its do with the stepper not cutting in-in time.

try blocking it with the igntion off and then sart it and see how it is.

Will try this later and also going to try running it off a jerry can incase there is muck in the tank and it's drawing up rust or something??
