Hey guys!

Can somone please help with a couple of questions?

I have a defender 90 3.5 V8

The first question, I have a breather pipe coming from the top of the engine above where the gearbox is that appears to be leaking oil (Or so i think!) I have put a red arrow on the pic attached to help identify.

The engine oil has never been overfilled, there no mayonazy stuff in the filler or water header tank to suggest a gasket failiure.

It is quite a substantial amount of oil coming out (enough to laek onto the exhorst, giving off smoke)

What could be the cause of this?

The second question is the oil leaking from the ball joint area (see pic)

That is oil running down the beak disc! where is it comin from? Is it easy to fix?

thanks in advance, Scott

Right question 1 - not sure, never worked on a V8 won't even bother trying - someone who knows exactly what it is and where it goes can answer that.

Second one, your hub oil seal is leaking, not that difficult to fix, but does need a bit of a strip down to get to it, calliper off, wheel, hub etc, then you will get to it, costs about 90pence!

i miised the point it was a front wheel  the £14 was for 2 seals an 2 paper gaskets, stealer wanted £14 for 1 seal

Thanks discomania thats a real help. il get the other question on the V8 section to see if anyone there knows.

Cheers mate:)
