put a new set of rear brake shoes on me 90 today, only prob is there rubbing like fook!

there the same profile as the old ones and the adjuster snails are set on the lowest setting.

any ideas what the prob might be??

are the shoes same width, no lips in drums, have you tried running file over edges of shoes???

shoes are exactley the same pattern, there was a bit of a lip but mainly rust, so that went we a bit of a file and emery.
and the leading edges of the shoes were taken off we a file.

i realy have no idea what it can be, the peddle is good a lot better than it was.
drove a little while we a bit of peddle on, enough for the revs to drop.

thought it were going to be a straight forward little job, would,nt take to long to do, that soon went out the window.
will have to have them off and see if i can see a prob.

also does anyone have a set of rear brake calipers for a disco1 they would part with??
ive a disco axle i want to put on but the calipers are buggered.
was going to be a summer job, but think it might be sooner.

Tip i read on the s2 forum was to chamfer all four of the shoes edges, might be worth a try?

Make sure you have them right way round. Sounds silly but if you look closely the shoe surface extends further on one leading edge compared to the other and they can be fitted wrong. If so you either end up with what you have or reduced breaking due to snails not working properly. Look at the pictures on Busters rear stb axke removal to get them the right way

cheers will look see if i can find busters guide.
been out for a little drive in her today, they started sticking and slowing me down, so i stopped put it in reverse for about a yard then carried on and all was ok, seems to be if i touch the brakes they stick, put it in reverse they unstick, so thinking they could be in wrong.
have it to bits in the morn.

got it sorted thanks.

"leading edge" what leading edge, before i put the shoes in i took a file to them on the edge.
they were still catching on this, so i took a angle grinder to them, sorted and working a treat now.
if only the old shoes would of lasted another week!!! im putting a disco axle on!
