Hiya guys. I have a curiosity I'm hoping you can help with.

1st one is does anybody know of a way to upgrade my diesel to use a servo assist brakes? I understand the pedal tower needs changing etc but the problem iv come across whilst researching is that the air intake for the diesel doesn't offer enough vacuum pressure to be any good. Has anybody overcome this? If so how?

Secondly I was wondering if you can purchase flexible injector lines? Iv been trying to adjust the timing and everytime I do the pipes won't align with the injectors anymore and leak fuel from the union. I tried to bend the pipe and ended up braking it, so before I buy new ones and face braking them again I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask around
 
My diesel has a servo. Seems OK.
You can upgrade by fitting a vacuum pump as close as possible to the servo and wiring it to the brake lights. I think people use a Audi one. Some use a tank but apparently the pump is that good most dont bother.

Not sure about hydraulic hose for injectors. Must be possible but how thick would you have to go?
 
If your timing has slipped so much as to be outside the limit of the flexibility of the pipes, then I'd suggest examining the drive train to the pump. You might find some wear/play in same that can be easily fixed with, for example a new drive gear.... IIRC, as the drive train wears, the timing becomes retarded - is the problem you are having? (Though, IIRC, the pump rotates on slots - are you within the limit on the slots? )

I am not aware of flexible pipes that will take injection pressures - or the impulse thereof.

A remote servo is an easier fit than replacing the current master cylinder - and can be fitted more or less anywhere.

I'd agree that an electric vacuum pump is probably the best option - failing that you're going to have to rig up an engine driven device - which is more work.

Both of the above can be hidden if you wanted to maintain some authenticity in your engine bay....

Iv recently had the engine rebuilt so I'm guessing the injector pump is more likely the culprit of wear and tear and slipping too far?

I contemplated an electric alternative for a vacuum pump but wasn't able to get a single result by googling it. Maybe I was being stupid with what I was searching

Unless the drive gear is one tooth out....:eek::rolleyes::confused:;)

I don't use g**gle - it tracks everything you do, :mad: and then alters the search results based on what you have previously searched for !!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Audi "allroad" have an electric vacuum pump - bay of fleas item # 282133004135 - £50 - there are cheaper and dearer ones out there....... there are also some medical grade ones with 5 figure price tags :eek:, which might be overkill for this use :D
