Series 3 Brake pipes, again!

Evening peeps.
My brain is frazzled.
Does the rear to front (single line) pipe run on top or on the side of the chassis.

My S3 88 has the pipe on the inside of the RH chassis rail.

S2 has it on the inside as well there are holes for the pipe clamps...
