Ok, so bare with me if I get the terminology completely wrong, remember I am a noob...

I have decided that I am going to buy some ready made brake pipes rather than make them myself.

So I found these which looked pretty good value for money (britpart kit is £85).

LANDROVER DEFENDER - POLISHED CUPRO-NICKEL BRAKE PIPE SET | eBay

So I emailed the guy and long story short we spoke on the phone. He wanted to know if my 90 had:

"2 or 3 pipes coming from the master cylinder"
"a valve on the bulkhead under the pedals" (I think that was what he asked)

Any ideas what my 1998 300tdi would have? My body is jammed in a little space and I can't really get to the front.

Unfortunately, my crystal ball is in for repair at the moment, so I suggest that you lift the bonnet and have a look.

It could have been modded by a previous owner, so I wouldn't take any chances.

As I said, thats the problem, my 90 is in the middle of a rebuild and I can't get to the part I was asked to check as it is against a wall.

It is standard, nothing has been modded from new.

is he talking about the brake bios valve that's actually bolted onto the bulkhead chassis mount bracket (it looks more like it's attached to the chassis)?

They seem expensive to me. Found a set for mine for about £60 (copper).

Was it ok quality, can you remember where you got it from?

I am not sure what he was talking about TBH! I managed to get to the master cylinder and it looks like it has 3 pipes coming out of it.

Mines DA7411 (older 90) and comes in at £49 + vat. I do like the look of the polished ones though.

Yours is £66 + vat from the same place I looked at (not much of a saving on what you've found).

Yep, those were my thoughts too.

If I can find out if the ones on ebay fit I will order them. Guess I might have to try and move the body to get at it.

I to need new brake pipes but will make my own. Had a read up on it and cupro nickel is apparently better than copper. when your doing up the unions, copper pipe has a tendency to stick and could twist with the nut. Cupro nickel is slipperier.

Gave my local Indy garage guy some beer money and he made them up using what I'd taken off as a guide

Don't think the pipes are anything fancy, but they do the job with no leaks

ive never found that but undoing copper or cunifer will be impossible a few years time , coppers great for short pipes with bends

Just looking at these myself
got quoted the same
the question he was refering to was this,
how many pipes run off from it

I managed to squeeze past the body (sound like a murderer) last night, my master cylinder has 3 pipes, but there is no sign of that valve thing!
