Hi,
I've just joined having bought a 1997 300Tdi. I decided to buy one because I need a vehicle to tow a large car trailer and a glider trailer. To put a fold-away hook on my road car would have cost over £800 (main dealer wanted £1300) and would have added nothing to the value of the car, but I got the Disco for £750 with no Mot, but with only 106,000 miles from new. It passed the MoT the day I brought it home, but it needs a front RH brake pipe.
Can anyone tell me the correct overall length of this pipe so that I can make one up? I roughly measured it at 102".
I think I got a great deal with only a few jobs to be done, like a stuck diff-lock lever plus a front hub seal (already fixed) and the brake pipe. I might change the rear brake pipes as well, but they are easy to measure and make up.
Now looking forward to driving it off on and off-road.
Thanks in advance.
Peter

I measured it using a reel of locking wire run along the existing pipe and it measured 102". It doesn't matter if it's a couple of inches too long. In fact I did this exact job about 18 months ago on a similar age Disco at my gliding club, but I didn't make a note of the length - Doh!!
I have plenty of pipe as I'm restoring an MGB-GT and a 1964 Mini at present. The end fittings are M1 x 1 so that's easy.
Must say this site is very interesting and there is obviously a lot of Disco experience here.
