brake lights andothers

Hello. just lost my fuel gauge reading .temp and no brake lights anyone any ideas . fuses seem to be ok . 110 csw 1987

Likely a dodgy earth connection - but struggling with instruments AND brake lights at the same time

Have you had the dash out recently?

Gradual elimination is usually the only answer - start by checking the rear light bulbs and connector, and see if there is any cable chaffing in the area.

If all looks OK, I'd next check the earth point behind the dash (4 screws to access) - it can look OK, but worth undoing, cleaning (wire brush or emery apper), applying copper grease, WD40 or silicon spray and then reassembling

Sorry - just realised brake lights rather than rear side lights - worth a quick bulb check, but earthing behind dash my favourite

Thanks for the reply.I have led,s fitted all round.i removed brake light switch yesterday and got them to work it was only when i put my head lights on i noticed the amp meter reading high and the other items went off but i will check out the earth not had the dash off but rebuilt landy 12 month a go and made a new wiring loom up just seems a bit strange as i ain`t used me car for a while.
