Hello all

Allow me to introduce myself, I am fielder, i started off my automotive life driving a Mk2golf with lots of stuck on boy racer bits, Then i moved to tarck day racing with a Mk2golf gti, Then i bought a motorbike and now i have just purchased my first 4x4 (freelander) which i am collecting from the dealer tomorrow.

Following quite a nasty accident on 2 wheels i am now looking to something new, I'm still riding a motorbike but i am looking to do some offroading in the winter months. So urm......Hello everybody

Oh yes, not mine though, I did a Buell trackday a couple of months ago and fell in love with the Lightening. Not fast in a straight line but damn it's good in the twisties and I LOVE IT.

I've got a Blackbird, CBR400 and also a Yamaha Thundercat in bits oh and a Disco
; )

Ahh, right time to buy one too, they are all going cheep as chips, I have a 2007 Z750 in Acid green, which i have just finished putting back together after going from 120mph - 0 in about 4 seconds then bouncing off the side of a Silver Toyota and putting my self in the hospital for the best part of a week. :D

stretchie..what's wrong with your Tcat to be in bits?

Mine, or should I say the one I used to have is still going strong, after I sold her to a mate a year or so ago, has already gone twice to the Nurburing...
took that engine out more times than I want to remember! lol

crackin bike the thundercat was...till I got the blade! lol

You wont be doing much off-roading in a gaylander...welcome anyhows..

We all start someplace  I took a unfaired sports bike to North Africa, im sure i can get a freelander stuck somewhere suitably daft

So come on. Where abouts are you?
I'm in Hertfordshire, just outside of Watford and Luton. Hence the freelander, I dont live close enough to Luton to sell enough drugs to buy a Black Vogue

This is me, my bike and three ladies (not the most attractive mind) at a photo shoot recently, and another shot of it in Morocco, I got a taste for the adventure stuff while riding down there last Summer.

Probably on the curb as you drive off the forecourt...

Yeah, From reading this website i get the feeling it may be a good time to stock up on head gaskets and headers.

Nope...just incendiary devices...seriously,welcome, not sure how long you are gonna be satisfied with your, ahem, vehicle if you want to off road/greenlane...

Thank you, We will see how the next few months in the Freelander goes, I only have 6months worth of finance left on the motorbike so if i get a taste for it i will have to see if i can trade up some what.

Good boy...now you're getting the idea...out of interest, what did you pay for the gaylander...cos a decent defenders 2500-3000....plus toys.

just under £2000.

A bit of back story, I spent a large percentage of my savings on a Saab93 (£1300), after 5 months of ownership (3 months of driving as i was in cast for 2 months in the summer thanks to my motorbike accident) the head gasket went and the car died rather spectacularly. No warnings at all (i'm fairly mechanically minded, most of the work on the track car pictured on page 1 was done by me). This left me without a car about 2 weeks ago, borrowing cars from friends and family or using my bike to get to work.

I've had to scrape together what little money i could get (being a 24year old with a flat to pay for and a motorbike to feed) when my girlfriend offered to give me money towards a car as long as it was a freelander (she has a fettish for them), Other family members have also helped out and basically, I was taken to a dealership that specialises in 4x4s, especially freelanders near my girlfriends work and was told 'Pick a freelander'.

So, after all that I have a Epson Green 3 door hardtop with 70K on the clock, the front Bumpguard and fogs and front and rear light guards, oh and foot plates (handy when you are 5'6 like me). The car is a gift which i am eternally grateful for, I would have been happy to have been given a 1.1 Corsa let alone something i can actually do something with (even if that does include swapping head gaskets)

Well thats a fairly nice family...wait a while...then sell it and buy a defender... :) You can always get a new girlfriend who likes to get dirty...

Thanks. The defender may be a good idea, but replacing the girlfriend? lol You must be joking, She bought me half bloody land rover, I'm carrying her shopping, painting her nails and keeping my mouth shut when she takes far too long to get ready for at least a year to make up for it. :)

Fantastic engine mate but not a great gearbox, lost second gear, got it fixed and rode it again, lost second gear again carried on riding it and third gear so took the engine out again, replaced the 6 gear pinion with the dogs in for 2nd and 3rd gear and when I put it back together I bent a piston ring.

Changed the cylinder block and pistons but jst as it was getting finished I bought the Blade and pretty much forgot about the 'cat..

Just never got around to finishing it again, but I do plan to
