Hi names Lee, current owner of 110 defender, seems fairly standard running 235/85x16 GBs,200 tdi, roof rack, no winch and nothing else to hinder it, yet when i drove it from the UK at the weekend after buying it i could not get it past 70 mph is this normal? previously owned a 109 van with transit engine n/a conversion that easily passed 70 mph, have checked tyre pressures although haven't as yet checked if brakes are binding but don't think so as no pulling, my dad drives a disco 1996 with same engine i believe and he tells me he has passed 100 mph (obvuiously in Germany on their Autobahns), is this mormal?

WTF do you want? A fanfare .........

:mooning:

The Defender is geared lower, I think about 25%, BICBW with that %age.

200/300tdi should do 90mph on the motorway with standard gearing.

Sounds like you have a 2.5NAD, or a Tdi that has something wrong with it.

If you want to go fast put in a V8 and the 1.2 transfer box from a disco, then you can do 1000mph :D
