Hi, Couldnt resist buying EAS cable and software from ebay, just thought worth a try. the problem is that, im a spanner bloke not computors, so a mate sorted it from disc to lap-top. Tonight i got it to connect (talk to car) but all that was happening was figures increasing in column Tx, this just went on for ages. colin

Did the red light change to green and say good idle. If not you have a comms problem. Also you were a very silly boy buying it off ebay Data on here sells them for comparative peanuts. And they work. There should be a PDF instruction manual with the software print it and read it.

As Above...Comms issue by the sounds of it...

Check you have the right drivers for your Serial Adaptor (Assume it is a OBD to Serial and you are using a Serial Adaptor to USB)....check you have selected the correct Comm port on the Setup menu...

Datatek is your man for the ES Software!!

Hi Colin,

I downloaded this software earlier today and whilst I don't have the cable (or a Range Rover for that matter), as others have said the instructions it comes with are very comprehensive and pretty easy to follow.

PM me if you want me to email over what I've got.

Hi. Watched some videos on YouTube (Comm settings) understand abit more, so might get connected tomorrow, i now know my comm-port number. Colin

You should see a figure in the TX with a response in the RX, the first 4 TX/RX responses are quite slow, then the 2 columns run fast until you ask it to do something like read the faults when it slows down again. If just the TX is running with nothing in the RX you have a communication problem, usually it's to do with USB. If you bought a lead with a USB connector rather than a serial one, you may have difficulty getting it to work especially if your computer runs Vista or Win 7. At least one person has sent such a lead back for a refund.
