Hello guys went off to work today and noticed a clunking when changing gear, got under it and realised by bottom tie rod bracket was loose. Tightened it up and its ok bit of vibration through the cab on tick over.

Do you think the tie rod bushes could be worn and the vibration has loosened the bolts.

Im nipping over to my mates to get it up on the ramp to have a proper look at the rod in a bit but just wondered if this could be the vibration i have running in the cab on tickover if that tie rod is worn

I have a l series freelander 1.

If anyone has any thoughts on this let me know. I will put a bit more into on once I have got the tie rod of to inspect it

The lower tie bar bushes do go soft with age. This allows the bottom of the engine to flop about under load. Don't forget that the tie bar is taking the same amount of torque that is going through the wheels;)
I can't see the bolts coming loose on there own however. Presumably they weren't tightened correctly when the bar was last removed.

I took off the old one the big bush just fell out was completely gone. I put the new one on and then took out the two bolts on the tierod bracket that connects to the engine. Put some thread lock in and tightened up and its been fine since.

changing that bottom bracket has obviously fixed a bit of the sloppy forward and backward when power on and off but mainly it has stopped alot of the vibration on tickover.
