Evening folks my td5 is running the usual engine mods ie intercooler, egr delete, de cat, middle box removed, boost box and stage 2 dynachip remap.

The boost has been played about with via adjustment of the wastegate rod and just trying to figure out what it should be running ie when does the stock turbo go past its limits and just starts pumping hot air out

At the min its running 22 psi

Thanks Kev

As long as you have a boost box you are a lost cause IMO, was the remap made while the boost box was fitted or before?...but to answer to your question the factory setup for the turbo is around 17psi without wastegate modulator

Don't expect your engine to last a long time.

Something isn't right. Unless UK diesels are different. Mine @ 70mph is about 10psi V8 6.0 american

Mods were done by previous owner and this is my first landy so I'm learning. Is the five pot really that weak when it comes to people tuning them

If anyone with a untouched td5 could count the threads on the wastage arm so I can at least stick it back to where it should be.

From what I've read, and I'm prepared to be corrected if I'm wrong, the Td5 engine, or "five-pot" as you disparagingly refer to it is detuned to 135 bhp in its standard production release so that it meets various international standards. The engine is quite capable of being remapped to 185 bhp which apparently was the output figure originally intended.
So "weak"? I wouldn't really say so.

It can be tuned to 210 bhp at 24psi too keeping the engine safe with proper remap and other tunings like wide range MAP, large intercooler, enhanced cooling etc, but not boost box ...as long as that boost box is there the whole management is mixed up so if it has a remap you can leave 10 threads out from the wastegate rod's locknut which would give you around 20psi if you get rid of the boost box and leave the MAP sensor to do it's job unless it's not ruined by the box yet

I removed the boost box this morning and she is a lot smoother and revs so much better, need to adjust wastegate as that is on 16 threads at min but will sort that after work

Like you, my D2 was my first Landy, Ive learned a hell of a lot in the two years Ive owned her!
Mine came with a boost box fitted, got rid of it quite quickly!
I think it was fitted to "help" resolve issues with the engine, poor running/starting/idling, all of which were cured when I changed the injector seals!
So when you get yours back to standard spec, dont be surprised if issues come up.
Im in Biggleswade, usually around most weekends if you ever want a 2nd opinion about stuff!

Hopefully I shouldn't have to many problems as long as the overboost box hasn't done damage, the previous owner already replaced the seals , injector loom, Maf with in the past year. Thanks fella I might see you about but there no end of td5's in this area, didn't realise how popular they are till I got one

Well I set the waste gate to 13 threads showing and boost hits just under 20psi anymore adjustment and it surges.

feels better than ever now :)
