Hi, I'm going to fit a new boost pressure sensor tonight in the hope it will solve my lack of power problems.

I have done done reading up and understand it's on the Lower inlet manifold.

Question is do I have to remove the manifold to be able to get to the sensor. If so does it unbolt fairly easily?

Thanks

I removed the inlet manifold when i changed mine as part of the inlet manifold clean up. Found loads of crap in the hole where the sensor lives that I cleaned out with cotton budds.

I should imagine you could change the sensor without removing the manifold just a bit fiddly to get to.

Changing the map sensor didnt solve my problem so money wasted on a new part so I do have a spare used map sensor if anyones interested.

Thanks for that zoolander. Wish I had known picked up new part this afternoon. Was going to have a go at fitting it tonight but rsn out if time I still can't tell where it really is will have another look tomorrow in the light.

What was the problem with yours and what cured it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks

Makes interesting reading. That's the one sensor I Havnt checked. Will be next on the list if the Map sensor doesn't cure my problems. From what I have read the map sensor just unscrews is this right?

Thanks.

Just take the plug off. One bolt to remove approx 10mm, then it pulls out. I would take the manifold off and clean it before fitting the new map sensor.

good luck

Dave

Morning, Stripped her down first thing this morning, removed lower inlet manifold to check how gunged up it was as many of you have done and it doesnt look too bad at all to be fair, removed my MAP sensor and it looks surpisingly clean, i was late finishing work last night sodidnt have chance to pickup the new part, so im going to have to wait untill tuesday now to fit the new part and try it i have attached an image of the removed item, i do wonder if it is faulty as it looks too clean.

I also removed the sensor at the end of the fuel rail and that looks brand new so im guessing the garage it has just come back from has already changed that.

Dont know where to go from here?

Thanks for input so far i've found this forum very good.

Can you describe the lack of power you are experiencing?

Can't see by your picture have you bypassed the EGR valve?

Changed the standard engine breather for the BMW vortex one?

Is your turbo working okay?

just a few ideas

all the best

Dave

Hi, I have blanked EGR a couple of years ago when I first had the car, power went altogether around 2months ago on the motorway. I managed to get it going by disconnecting the MAF. Then it went it to the garage where they replaced MAF, Injectors, High and Low pressure fuel pumps and the turbo at a cost of £2500. After 7 weeks they have said they can't do anymore with the car and are lost as to what it could it be. It's now the same and will drive with the MAF disconnected ok but will only just about idle with the MAF connected.

They have replaced a whole host of sensors aswell but to no avail. The only thing they think it might be is the mapping on the ecu? They have had the ecu checked and a specialist said its fine but they can't check the mapping. So they said I would have to get Landrover to check that.
