Hi all,

Just reading the supplement in the latest LRM and came across an interesting item that says the following:

'The first mod is to unscrew the top of the boost capsule, turn it 180 degrees and refit it. This instantly improves pedal response and makes it feel quite nippy without actually making any more full load power'

Has anybody got any experience of doing this and if so what did you think?

Exactly the same for the 300tdi as it's the same system.

Thanks

Thank you Mr Gratch ... this is all due to a long lost relative sharing the same name as you leaving the sum of $25,000,000 in an account of which I have been instructed to dispose of you understand. I will now need a photocopy of your identity please and thankyou ;)

Yes but have you actually spent time doing one? right pain.
Seems to drive lovely then you go out at night and see the cloud behind you, which not only looks bad but is also your money being left behind!
I had a minor fettle with mine after doing the pumps on every land rover ive owned, and have learnt little tweaks are the best.

Turning it 180 degrees will most likely make no difference as the conical cone will not have been at its lowest point. They are normally set at 90deg from the lowest/highest point of the cone. Read the instructions linked very carefully on the previous posts. There are 4 adjustments you can make to up the performance... I settled on 30deg on the diaphragm. One full turn clockwise on the smoke screw. And 180deg on the star wheel. The engine does not smoke anymore than it did before but I can go up hills in 4th and sometimes 5th gear and pull away speed is improved. If it smokes it is just burning too much fuel. A waste..
