Bored, sat in car park, fiddling with H/L lever, thought I'd just try the CDL again (tried before... no movement) then a little shove, movement to the left, chimes and a light on the dash..... it has a CDL after all.....now just need an excuse to use it!

Cool, IMHO it's a good time to get under there with some decent spray lubricant, and keep the linkage in fine fettle :)

Good plan. Wondering if the various leaks have helped free it.......!

Maybe - maybe just the warmth permeating all the castings after a drive - and you tried it at just the right time! - a blinking miracle  given how they can sometimes seize up like they are all one solid piece.:mad::mad::rolleyes:

I found it's not too often that the outside bits stick, unless they've been in the mud a lot, but most likely the pin and slide arrangement at the top of the gearbox housing. There's every chance if you take the centre console off, and the bits underneath, that you'll find a still semi seized area. A good dose of oily stuff to free it properly, a lot of hand movement to help it, then a dollop or three of grease will help it stay free ... ;)

You are probably right!

Funny though (and a real schoolboy error) thought I'd give it a go.. so in the car park, on a solid surface, drove forward, turned and drove forward again. Stopped, disengaged and the light remained on.... re-engaged, disengaged etc, ignition on, off, on, off, light still on... brilliant, found something and broken it within 5 mins..... remember something about transmission wind up.... pop it in reverse, back up a few yards and happy days, chime and light off...

Note to self.... only play with it on a loose surface!!!

@Paul D - I have some works on the centre console planned - so will be removing part, so on that basis I'll carry on until I can see the movement you describe... then liberal application of grease!
