Hi, just bought a bonnet prop grommet off eBay but it doesn't fit. It fits the prop okay but it's too small for the hole on the bonnet.
The seller says it's the right one for my chassis number and there are no alternatives.
Am I missing something.
1995 300tdi N reg.
Item number for the grommet is AYA10004L
CHEERS

Was it a genuine item ? According to LR it fits the D1 D2 & Defender 1987 -07.

It said it was OEM, The seller has checked my chassis and reckons the prop bracket that fixes to bonnet is now not available. Said there was no alternative and to post back for a refund. And maybe Google could help solve the problem.
I've googled and found 369746
It looks we exactly the same as my original.
Bit confused, shine a light on this one?

Is it soft rubber? Maybe this is obvious but I fitted a grommet to a Defender. Had to take the prop off, fit the grommet then fit the prop back through the grommet. If I tried to fit with the grommet on the prop first it just wouldn't go into the hole.....

At 79p for the grommet it's hardly worth posting back ! They're right that the bracket is NLA, see link Genuine Bonnet Locking & Release For Land Rover Discovery 1 1989 - 1998 (from Fa393361 To Wa799999) Classic | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts you can click on the + bits for prices & availability.
I would order a genuine one or try & source a secondhand one.
The 369746 you quote is for a D2 & is £6.68 inc. vat:eek:. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow & post a pic.

Maybe mine has had a different bracket fitted?
Ok have a look tomorrow....

Mine is the other way around. The grommet is too small to fit on the bracket and when fitted to the prop it is still too small to fit in the hole on the bracket....

This is my D2 grommet
