thinking of putting me spare wheel on the bonnet.

And yes i will be able to see, as the seats are high.

what im after is a detailed pic of the mounting kit, on the bonnet view and under the bonnet view.

looked on google but there aint much there we that much detail.

does anyone have any picks of there own to share? going to make me own if i can see some pics

thanks

i allways get second hand series bonnet mount and bolt it on,you can get rubbers to bolt on to hoold wheel off bonnet but i never bother

The Series 'pie dish' type of bonnet wheel carrier isn't suitable for a Defender bonnet, as the Defender's bonnet isn't strong enough to support the weight of a spare wheel, without the correct reinforcement.

This is what parts are in the Defender Kit -

Bonnet mounted spare wheel - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

.

I have all that ****e somewhere in me garage.... even the rubbers to keep it off the bonnet

took mine off the bonnet within a week of owning it, cant see **** over the tyre and you need someone else to open the bonnet whilst you pull the cable....or figure out a way of the cable staying pulled while you go around and lift the bonnet

"cant see **** over the tyre"

He's already said he has higher seats and anyway, it really depends on the height of the driver and the width of the tyre.
When I used 7.50x16 XCL's I could see fine but my wife (who is 8-inches shorter than me) struggled, when I changed over to 265/75x16 even I struggled to get a decent view when manouvering so I went for a rear mounted spare instead.

"you need someone else to open the bonnet whilst you pull the cable....or figure out a way of the cable staying pulled while you go around and lift the bonnet"

For that situation use the bonnet catch that you release through the grill, I removed mine when I did away with my bonnet mounted spare and instead went over to cable release. Also you should use the solid bonnet prop as LR state the scissor prop is not suitable for that situation.

cheers for the replies chaps.

JP, all that crap in your garage, you want some beer tokens for it? im in newbury soon.

Use a clothes peg to hold the cable pull in the open position inside the vehicle, then you can go round and lift the bonnet just remember to remove the peg when you want to close it.
I keep the peg in the ash tray.

cheers paul

did think of using me hanger off the back door, may well do that now and put a few more stiffeners in.
