Bonnet Cargo net

Can anybody shed any light on the regulations regarding having a bonnet cargo net, like for overlanding etc, how will the law look at it from a visibility point of view here in the uk, we used to carry spare wheels on the bonnet with series rovers, have searched the tinternet and here but to no avail, i know i could fit a roof rack but i use this as my daily car too and it would'nt pass under the carpark barrier at work with a rack on, really i am looking at this from a lazy point, its a chew on putting a rack on and then having to remove it again just to go camping for a weekend, three kids and one is a wheelchair user, so space is tight. I would say that it has to be legal as the military have a special bonnet rack.

you can net but the net must be secure in its own right and then have it secure load.
