why do some of the Disco bolts have a twisted cut out going up (or down) the thread ???

So they can force them home cross threaded with an impact wrench

It holds the centre of the plastic scuttle bit in place.

Loads of them on the Disco 2, self-cutting but rust like hell afterwards if underneath.
