Bodywork bubbling

The 4 doors on our 1988 110 County look as though they need to be replaced as they've rusted along the bottom door sill and the surface is covered in lots of bubbles.

I was thinking of buying 4 x new doors and have them sprayed at a body repair centre. Will the bubbling effect return?

Yes no doubt. It's when the ally meets the steel, it's a chemical reaction that causes the aluminum to corrode away. Your always going to get it but get the doors done properly with rust treatment etc etc and hope for the best.

is it the same on the new Land Rover Defenders? I fancied buying a 60 plate but I wouldn't if it bubbles up.

I think they changed the construction (though not the shape) to galvanised steel from the first of the TDCI's so they don't corrode. I may be wrong but someone will be along in a minute to correct or confirm

I seriously doubt they will change something that helps get more off the road,

Thats why LR hate enthusiasts,

Its not our fault we can keep them going with basic tools !
