Rather than touching up, i'm thinking...too hell let's go for a full respray :) I'm up in Newcastle (upon tyne type) and have a friends friend who says it should cost me £800 (Bronze/Green Metallic). Just interested as to what the best price you guys and gals have ever had and if you know anyone to match up this way. it's not gonna happen till summer and after a nice treatment of Waxoyl anyway but answers appreciated. Cheers :D

For a car that size, 800 seems cheap. Are they doing the prep work, removing the various trim etc for that price? You have to decide if it worth investing that much on an old car. I would e temted (in summer) to look out for a mint late 300 tdi and see what it would cost to change. But if your is in great shape apart from the bodywork, then go for the 800 quid paint job.

Well it's as late a 300 model as I will get, only got 43k on clock I am just being fussy with paintwork really, mainly bubbling but I want to look after her and keep her mint. £800 is a lot for an older model though I see your point

i would imagine the 800 is just for the job of painting, you would have to strip it completely to get a decent finish which is a massive job. anyway landrovers shouldnt have nice shinny paintwork! they should be dented and muddy

i paid 200 quid for my series 2 i did the all the prep work though as i wanted a few dents left adds to the character :D

Oh most definately, and I've noticed other driver's avoid parking next to you like the plague for fear of getting mud on themselves or their motor's:D .... Mine sometime's shine's in bright sunshine:rolleyes:

For 800 quid, i would check to see what is involved, is not a lot of money for a respray for such a large car, But the prep work would be a huge job! If the majority of the body is good, take it to a body shop and look at getting the bad stuff sorted, it should be mostly around the bottom avoiding the glass.

Yeah all valid points, the quote was from a mate who is a dealer who knows a spray shop, his last respray was £700 for an MX-5, I assume everything done by him.......Still in early stages of enquiring but thanks for all the comments....Dented is good but not when its got such good chassis and mileage, I know theres plenty that won't agree but thats what forums are for......too take the **** :D

When I was on the tools I had a Maestro van, it looked a bit shabby so I gave it a good rub down, spot primed with red lead and painted it with Dulux Weathershield, undercoat & gloss, put it on with a four inch foam roller. It looked fookin amazing, 10 feet away looked like a proper spray job. £40ish all in.
